A band clangs around in the basement, sonically soaking the roots of the house with deep vibrations and pulling the spirits out to play in the hollow cellar. I played a show with Highland, Wisconsin’s “Big Waves Of Pretty” the other night and I really enjoyed this band. I’d imagine that these guys play the same no matter what size the crowd is. They give off that, (we do it because we love it) vibe and are really genuine and kind. At night’s end we had traded tapes and I promised to check their stuff out and lo behold I like the tape just as much as I like them live!

On the “Jessica Shepard EP” music swells all over the place, crazy time signatures, kissing sounds, screaming, buzzing guitars, surf vibes, mixed with a feeling of partying by yourself being uncontrollably comfortable with yourself. Most of the tracks feel like they have a story behind them but that story isn’t obviously detectable. My favorite song on the tape is “shoot him” that has a very lovely vocal melody at the beginning, and talks about a man versus time, money, and life. It’s a really delicate and tender song even though the instruments rip you along and get your going.

The packaging is pretty on this tape, a cloth casing covered in fruit patterns, bright purple tape and a little paper insert. I don’t really know what these dudes have planned for the future, but they are worth staying in touch with so check um out!
